“I am deeply committed to the total well-being of children and believe a positive preschool experience sets the stage for a child's life-long love of learning. My passion is creating environments that nurture creativity and encourage curiosity by providing ample time for play, art, storytelling and exploration in nature. I feel honored to be a part of such an important time in a young child's life."
Deborah Humphrey studied and received her college degree from the University of Wisconsin with an English major. In addition to her graduate work in psychology, Debbie works as a library assistant for the Marin County library system. She has been teaching preschool at Marinwood since 1991.
“My favorite time at preschool is story time. I love to watch the children’s faces, as I read to them. Instilling an appreciation for books and stories is rewarding and a marvelous way for me to help them along on the path to a lifelong love of learning and school.”
Lindy Burgon is a Bay Area native, and her family has lived in San Rafael for the past three years. She has worked as a PE teacher and volleyball coach, and after a few career changes, she returned to school to receive her master's degree in counselor education. She worked as a high school counselor before staying home with her children- three daughters ages 8, 6 and 4, that keep life very full and exciting. Two of her girls have attended preschool at Marinwood and have had a fabulous experience!
“One of my favorite things to do with the children is art. I love finding projects related to our weekly theme and watching them design their individual project. They are always thrilled to share their work with family and I love seeing the proud smiles on their faces when they create something beautiful.”
Eileen Lewin has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. Mary's College. She has lived in Marin County for 33 years and is married with 2 adult sons. Her children went through all the programs at Marinwood Preschool. She has taught at Marinwood Preschool for over 20 years in all three of the programs.
“I believe children will have greater success in their academic life if their first experience is a positive one filled with joy. Marinwood Preschool is a lovely school where children can play and learn in a safe and nurturing environment.”
Jenny Chan received her degree in Urban Studies from San Francisco State University. She began teaching in our Three’s Together program in 1998.
“Children beginning our Threes Together each September, are coming to really ‘spread their wings’ for the first time in a school setting. During their year in our program we see them reach a new level of comfort away from home and with other children. Guiding them as they move through their year of learning and observing their progress is most rewarding and is the highlight of my job.”
Annette Raisedana studied speech pathology and audiology, receiving her degree from Purdue University in Indiana. Annette has been with our teaching staff since 2002 working in both the three and four year old programs.
“As a preschool teacher at Marinwood, I work to encourage co-operation, creative thinking and socialization in a loving, safe, and supportive environment. This experience will help children transition more smoothly into the elementary school experience.”
