“I am deeply committed to the total well-being of children and believe a positive preschool experience sets the stage for a child's life-long love of learning. My passion is creating environments that nurture creativity and encourage curiosity by providing ample time for play, art, storytelling and exploration in nature. I feel honored to be a part of such an important time in a young child's life."
Deborah Humphrey studied and received her college degree from the University of Wisconsin with an English major. In addition to her graduate work in psychology, Debbie works as a library assistant for the Marin County library system. She has been teaching preschool at Marinwood since 1991.
“My favorite time at preschool is story time. I love to watch the children’s faces, as I read to them. Instilling an appreciation for books and stories is rewarding and a marvelous way for me to help them along on the path to a lifelong love of learning and school.”
Hi, my name is Zay Htet and this is my first year as a preschool teacher at the Marinwood Community Center. I’m 22 years old and I just recently graduated from the University of San Francisco with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in Neuroscience. Some interests of mine include drawing, writing and hiking. Currently, I’m working toward getting my TEFL certification so that I can teach English abroad in the coming years. I’ve interacted with a wide variety of age groups, but I enjoy working with kids the most because I get the chance to see them grow from the time that I first met them. I’ve worked in different settings from classroom and recreational places, to summer camps, and my experience has never been boring. I’m looking forward to being a part of the Marinwood team, and all the positive moments to come.
My name is Gina Nelson and I just moved to Marinwood in July. Before that, I was a lifelong resident of Petaluma where I was a childcare provider and owned my own daycare. I attended Santa Rose Junior College where I received my 12 ECE units and became a certified associate teacher. I love working with children! I pride myself in my patience, my understanding, and my willingness to go that extra mile—especially when it involves a child. I look forward to being a part of Marinwood Preschool!
Jenny Chan received her degree in Urban Studies from San Francisco State University. She began teaching in our Three’s Together program in 1998.
“Children beginning our Threes Together each September, are coming to really ‘spread their wings’ for the first time in a school setting. During their year in our program we see them reach a new level of comfort away from home and with other children. Guiding them as they move through their year of learning and observing their progress is most rewarding and is the highlight of my job.”
Annette Raisedana studied speech pathology and audiology, receiving her degree from Purdue University in Indiana. Annette has been with our teaching staff since 2002 working in both the three and four year old programs.
“As a preschool teacher at Marinwood, I work to encourage co-operation, creative thinking and socialization in a loving, safe, and supportive environment. This experience will help children transition more smoothly into the elementary school experience.”
